This is an omnidirectional electret condenser microphone that is mountable on to a PCB or breadboard. The full part number is C9767BB422LFP from Laube Electronics.
An electret mic works on the basis of a diaphragm that vibrates when sound hits it. The vibration shows up as a variation in capacitance between the diaphragm and the back plate of the mic. Traditional microphones require a DC bias voltage of tens to hundreds of volts in order to polarize and charge the plates of the capacitor in a condenser mic. An electret has a permanent electrostatic charge so no high voltages are needed to charge the capacitor plates.
This device works at a 1.5V operating supply and has a load resistance of 1 kohm. Please see the datasheet for translating the part number into operational characteristics.
